Art Journals & Mixed Media

The world of Art Journaling and Mixed Media is huge!!!  So much information, so many techniques, and so little time.  Nevertheless, I did buy some brushes, watercolors, acrylic paints, gesso, markers, Prismacolor pencils (actually a gift), and of course some paper.  I am ready to go.....but where?? LOL.

Currently, I have a few places I like to go to learn something new about mixed media and art.  The first place is Julie Balzer's web site (see the button below. I have two of her DVD's: "Collage - Fast and Furious" and "Making Faces." I love, love , love her teaching style!!!  She will be coming out with another book about creating carved stamps.  Can't wait!

Another artist I enjoy is Carla Sonheim.  She's an illustrator and drawing instructor, and she offers some amazing online classes.  Her creativity has really jump-started my imagination.  Now I am seeing little creature-type animals everywhere.  I do have two of her books:

Her web site is located HERE.  Her blog is located HERE.

Another artist I like is Margaret Peot.  She uses a similar technique as Carla, only with inkblots.  Margaret has some projects listed on her website.  I will be sure to give these a try.
